Dorn VA Medical Center - Is looking for volunteer van drivers to take patients to Dorn VA Medical Center for tests and doctor's appointments. Van located at the Leatherman Senior Center. Orientation and training provided by Dorn VA Medical Center. A complete physical and driving record required at the expense of the Medical Center.
Florence Area Literacy Council - In need of volunteers to serve as tutors and classroom facilitators. Tutors are needed to teach reading, writing and math skills. Training for tutors anf facilitators will be provided.
Florence County Sherrif's Ofice (Effingham) - Volunteers needed to assis departmental staff members and the general public by providing directional information to various department. Duties may include but are not limited to processing records, forms, applications, official documents, reports; receiving and receipting payments, processing daily mail, compiling data, entering data into computer and generating computer reports, and maintaining file systems, etc. Also included is answering telephones, receiving and reviewing a veriety of documents which may include licenses, officical documents, civil papers, etc. Other duties may also be included.
Florence County Guardian Ad Litem - Looking for volunteers to make a difference in the life of a neglected or abuse child;to speak up for the best interests of the child in family court. SLED and background check is required. This position includes an in-depth 30 hour curriculum. Need volunteers in the Marion County also.
Florence Museum/Railroad Museum - Do you enjoy model train and train memorabilia??? Volunteer positions are available at the Florence Railraod Museum (adjacent to the Florence city-County Complex). Duties include but are not limited to learning a short history of reailroading in Florence and learning about the objects and pictures in the museum; playing with the model railroads and showing them off to guests; turning the electricity on and off upon arrival and departure; putting out the "OPEN" sign, unlocking and locking doors upon arrival and departure and light housekeeping as needed. There should always be a team of two (2) volunteers at the museum during "OPEN" hours. It would be ideal to have more than one team to rotate days. Hours for Railroad Museum are each Thursday and Friday, 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Additional hours will be by appointment only.
Johnsoville Nutrition Site - Need volunteers to help pack meals to be delivered to homebound seniors in the community.

Lake City Senior Center- We are currently looking for part-time volunteers to serve at the welcome/reception desk answering phones, directing guests, handling greeters. Additional opportunities will be announced soon!
Leatherman Senior Center - Volunteer opportunities available at the welcome/reception desk. We are also looking for volunteers to teach Spanish and/or arts/crafts. Call the center for additional information.
Lighthouse Ministries - Volunteers are always needed. Special request for volunteers with computer and data entry skills. Training will be provided.
Manna House - Looking for volunteers to help prepare meals and serve guests, as well as prepare facilities for the next day. Volunteers also needed to collect food donations and maintain food bank.
McLeod Regional Medical Center - Need volunteers for outpatient services, lobby/information desk, clerical services, admitting, gift shops, and flower services.
Meals-on-Wheels - The following churches volunteer to pick up meals and deliver them to homebound senior citizens in the community: Ebenezer Baptist, Highland Park United Methodist, Maxwell Baptist, Mount Pisgah Baptist, Mount Zion AME, New Ebenezer Baptist, St. Anthony's, St. John Episcopal, St. Paul Methodist and Savannah Grove Baptist Church.
Mercy Medicine Clinic - The clinic is always in need of volunteer physicians, nurse practioners, nurses, pharmacists, receptionists, screeners and custodians.
Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Abuse - Need volunteers for the crisis line, administrative support, shelter advocate, etc. Many opportunities to choose from.
Senior Citizen's Association - Do you like to sing? The RSVP Chorus Singers are looking for volunteers to sing to the residents at several nursing homes in the community. SCA is also looking for volunteers to help pack the meals for the Meals-on-Wheels Program.
The Care House of the Pee Dee - Is in need of a volunteer to provide receptionist duties, general office help, computer/data entry, filing, assist with fundraising events, sort donated toys and clothes, and restock supplies and other duties as needed. Background and SLED check is required. Training is provided.
Timmonsville Nutrition Site - Need volunteers to help pack meals to be delivered to homebound seniors in the community.
Trinity Nutrition Site - Need volunteers to help pack meals to deliver to be delivered to homebound seniors in the community.
12th Judicial Circuit Arbitration - Volunteers needed to train as arbitrators for juvenile services in the 12th Judicial Circuit. Volunteers will serve as Arbitrators between victims and offenders, helping to bring justice and order to the the community.
Widows of Deceased Veterans - Volunteers needed to answer telephone, provide light clerical such as typing, making phone calls, and assisting with research for building data base of widow/widowers of deceased veterans in South Carolina. Other duties as assigned.
Winyah Community Hospice - In need of volunteers to visit with patient, read and write letters, etc. Volunteers can also assist with shopping or household maintenance; or just sit with patient to give family member time away from home. Volunteers can also serve by helping in the office with administrative duties.
