A senior center is a place in the community that is attractive and makes older adults feel that it is the place where they want to come. Having two senior centers in Florence County has given a message to the community that seniors are valued both by the community and by themselves. The location of both senior centers offer accessibility to the older population. The centers serve a diverse population of older adults. There is adequate parking so that handicapped individuals and other participants, particularly in inclement weather, do not have difficulty in reaching the center. The centers meet the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 that states that all new facilities for services must be barrier free and accessible.
We are encouraging the senior community to use and take advantage of these remarkable senior centers.
